Braille vs. reading visually
Google is a great site. Without it I would not have known that today is Louis Braille’s birthday.
Of course that sparked the debate in our office of which reading method is faster. I believe that someone reading Braille will read with comparable speed to a person reading visually. Some, or at least one, of my coworkers disagrees and believes that Braille readers must be slower due to the fact that they need to scan the entire word with their fingers.
Of course I believe that the Grade 2 Braille transcription must lean the argument towards my side of the fence, but I have been unable to find anything supporting either position. If you know of some resources, please let me know by leaving a comment!
Welcome to Yahoo! by Microsoft?
Mary Jo Foley is reporting speculation that Microsoft wants to by Yahoo. I don’t believe there has been any substantiation at this point, however Robert Scoble polints out some interesting other rumours.
