Unfortunately the BIOS will be different on your Compaq than it is on my Dell Inspiron.  If you know anybody that is fairly well versed with computer diagnostics, you may want to show them this article to see if they can help, otherwise I would suggest either talking to support at Compaq or biting the bullet and taking it to a service shop.]]></description>
